That dimply, uneven, unsightly skin on your inner thigh? Or how about just under your booty? Across the tummy? Wherever yours is, chances are you’ve got Cellulite. Don’t worry; most people do. In fact, over 90% of women have some amount of Cellulite on their bodies by the time we’re just 18 years old. It’s nothing we did or didn’t do, either. Teenage eating habits- or lack thereof- didn’t send us on a wayward, Cellulite-ridden path.  The truth is, Cellulite just… happens.

In this article:

  1. The Ingredients
  2. The Creams

As you likely know, our skin is made of several different layers. Through those layers there are fibrous cords, connecting the top epidermis layer all the way down to the muscle. These cords are made of collagen, which is created from amino acids. Over time, these cords can harden and pull tighter, resulting in the dimpled-looking skin, which many say resembles the skin of an orange. However, Cellulite can be formed simply from fat collecting and gathering in one area, for no particular reason at all.

So what in the world can we do to combat such a common issue? Look for creams with these ingredients on the list for your best weapon.

The Ingredients

Number 1: Glaucine

Number 1: Glaucine
The Glaucium Flavum is also called the Yellow Horned Poppy.

Glaucine is derived from the Glaucium Flavum seed, so it is an excellent natural remedy, not a questionable chemical cocktail. In the human body, Glaucine works to regulate fat formation. Irregular fat formations can be a very important part of cellulite visibility, so disrupting this can not only reduce the signs of cellulite, but eliminate part of the cause as well. Glaucine slows fat cell production, and decreases fat cell size. This allows the cells to release the fat and produce collagen instead, helping to loosen those fibrous cords. Glaucine  is also proven to lower water retention and firm the skin, even further improving the surface appearance.

Number 2: Bladderwrack Extract

Number 2: Bladderwrack Extract
Ascophyllum nodosum is the scientific name for this type of Atlantic kelp.

One of the primary causes of Cellulite is the fat buildup between the skin, which Bladderwrack Extract tackles head-on. This kelp is a natural diuretic, meaning it pulls away moisture. Any fat and fluid buildup that isn’t supposed to be there will be whisked away once Bladderwrack is applied, leaving room for more circulation and blood flow. This ingredient too is double-acting, in that it fights already formed Cellulite, and the formation of any new dimpling. Bladderwrack is not to be taken orally as a supplement, however, only administered topically as an extract or in a cream.

Number 3: Centella Asiatica Extract

Number 3: Centella Asiatica Extract
This leafy herb is a popular ingredient in Sri Lankan cooking, and tastes like parsley!

This extract has its origins deeply rooted in the folk medicine of the Eastern portion of the world, and is a huge part of modern K-beauty (aka, Korean skin care). Centella Asiatica has a half dozen names across the world, but even more benefits. It’s super hydrating to the skin, and an antioxidant. It is a veritable wealth of amino acids, which in turn can form into that much-needed collagen.  It can even help soothe the ache of sunburns.

Number 4: L-Carnitine

Number 4: L-Carnitine
This ingredient doesn’t just penetrate our skin; it works on a cellular level.

Most often, this nutrient derivative of amino acids is taken in pill form as a vitamin or supplement. It is a natural part of the mammalian digestive system and crucial in moving fatty acids into cellular mitochondria. The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell. It can burn these fatty acids for energy. Our bodies make some L-Carnitine, but adding additional speeds up our natural processes for faster results.

There are even more beneficial ingredients in anti-cellulite skin care.

Extra helpers include popular anti-aging ingredient Retinol, or Vitamin A. It’s ability to tighten skin and encourage cell growth is great for stopping cellulite in its tracks. Caffeine not only gets you up in the morning, but a dose in your Cellulite cream can stimulate circulation, which helps move out those excess fatty cells between the skin layers. Vitamin C is an antioxidant and essential in the making of collagen. Vitamin E is also an antioxidant and helps reduce damage from free radicals.

The Creams

The Creams
When it comes to fighting cellulite, “good” isn’t good enough. Only the best creams out there can get real results that last.

Since so many women deal with cellulite daily, it’s no surprise that the cellulite treatment industry is bigger today than ever before. Hundreds of cellulite creams are on the market, and every product on the market claims to be more effective and faster-working than the next product. When it comes down to it, results are the only thing that matters, but how can you know what actually works and what doesn’t?

That is exactly the reason why we’ve spent hundreds of hours evaluating, reviewing, and ranking the most popular anti-cellulite creams on the market today. In these reviews, we take into account such factors as effectiveness, ingredients, price, and user reviews of the product. That way, you can tell which products actually work and which ones are just expensive duds.

When evaluating a product, we perform an extensive ingredient analysis first, because the ingredients are the heart and soul of any anti-cellulite product. The ingredients within a cream should work together to help tighten and firm skin and eliminate fat, which will help leave you with the beautiful, healthy, and smooth skin that you desire.
