RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream Review

L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream Overview

From the RevitaLift Complete product line comes the L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream. This cream not only hydrates your skin to prevent wrinkles with a handful of scientifically-proven ingredients, but it also firms eyelids and decreases puffiness for a more youthful-looking appearance.

L’Oreal claims this cream will treat the delicate skin around the eyes with the utmost care, and provide lasting results in just four weeks.

A Closer Look at L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream

There are many positive customer reviews about this product both on L’Oreal’s website and other vendors across the internet.

It should be noted though, that customers who saw anti-wrinkle and anti-aging results had been using the product for an extended period of time, in several cases longer than the recommended 4 weeks,  and many were using it in conjunction with other formulas from the RevitaLift Collection. A ‘full skin care regimen’ means that you must buy the rest of the line and use them all together to receive the full benefits of every product.

Most branded creams claim to be part of a 'full skin care regimen'.

Also worthy of note is the fact that while the customer reviews for RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream are remarkably positive, many of them have a disclaimer at the bottom of their post saying they received a free sample, loyalty points, coupons, or contest entries in exchange for their review, or that the review was collected as part of a L’Oreal promotion. With incentives to encourage customers to review, it allows for a great deal of bias.

While some may be content to wait a month for results, there are many alternative products on the shelf nowadays that promise nearly instant differences. While those are surely not perfect either, it is difficult to put one’s faith in a product that takes so long to work, especially if there’s a chance it might end up not working at all. Then not only is money wasted, but time as well.

Positives

  • Appears to firm the thin skin around eyes
  • Provides 24-hour hydration
  • Can reduce the amount of visible wrinkles
  • May increase cellular turnover

Negatives

  • Contains parabens
  • Heavy potential for bias in consumer reviews
  • No scientific testing to back up claims

RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream Ingredients

A closer look at the RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream ingredients list might raise some more concerns, despite all the praise. The cream is chock-full of parabens (one in particular which may be dangerous for nursing mothers), preservatives, and perfumes which are likely to cause some form of an allergic reaction. This might not be the wrinkle cream for those customers who prefer safe, organic ingredients.

Dimethicone

If you are plagued with dry skin or eczema, look for products with Dimethicone in the label. This ingredient creates a barrier against skin irritants, protecting the dermis from harm. It also helps to prevent water loss, keeping skin’s natural moistness and locking in the moisture provided by other ingredients like Glycerin.

Acetyl Trifluoromethylphenyl Valylglycine

This synthetic component is in several of L’Oreal’s Revitalift products, but there is nearly no information on what it does or how. Some bloggers claim it acts as a topical skin conditioning agent, but offer no scientific explanation to how it works, or what exactly it’s made of. For now, it remains the mystery meat of this ingredient cocktail.

Retinyl Palmitate

Also known as Retinol or Retinal, this Vitamin-A derivative is all the rage in the cosmetic world right now. Most new products contain it, and there is good reason. All forms and names for Retinyl Palmitate perform the same function. That is, they promote increased cell division, thus boosting your skin’s ability to heal itself. The jury is still out on any long-term usage effects however. Some worry that enhancing cell turnover artificially will lead to long-term issues later down the line, but there is no definitive proof.

Methylparaben

Just one of the included parabens in RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream, Methylparaben is an antifungal and sometimes used as a preservative in cosmetics and food. While no one wants fungi growing in their eye cream, it is important to note that an increased presence of parabens has been linked to breast cancer in numerous studies.

The Final Word on L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream

L’Oreal RevitaLift Complete Eye Cream won’t break your bank and has several satisfied customers, but there are several potentially concerning ingredients. If you have sensitive skin or are nursing or pregnant, or trying to become pregnant, this is likely not a good choice for you. However, if you are looking for an affordable cream which seems to deliver on its promises, even though it might have some questionable additives, then maybe L’Oreal Revitalift will be worth the gamble for you.
