L’Oreal RevitaLift Triple Power Eye Treatment Overview
One, two, three times as powerful? Can RevitaLift pack such a big punch without risking skin sensitivity?
One of the newest entries into L’Oreal’s RevitaLift line, the RevitaLift Triple Power Eye Treatment claims to erase wrinkles and bags while simultaneously lifting the entire eye area. The applicator even includes a cooling tip for a full spa-like experience from the comfort of your home bathroom. The packaging claims that skin texture and tone appear smoother and more even after just one week, while wrinkles are drastically lesser after four weeks.
Those are big claims for any anti-aging product to make, but L’Oreal has had a loyal following for so many years with good reason.
A Closer Look at L’Oreal RevitaLift Triple Power Eye Treatment
While outlook for this product appears excellent at a glance, there are still a few concerns worth noting before you buy. Primarily, this serum’s main active ingredient is one of their own designs, or rather their parent company’s. Lancome developed Pro-Xylane in 2006, and has been working on perfecting it since.
Tests and trials reveal this ingredient to be almost superpowered in efficacy, but the problem lies in the fact that all of the tests were done in-house, by Lancome or Lancome-owned companies. This leaves a huge opportunity for unintended bias to creep in, tainting positive evidence by leaving out what might be less-than-ideal.
Other than this, there is little to worry about from L’Oreal’s new cream. The ingredients list reads well, save for a few silicones like Silica and Mica. These help contain moisture, but can also smother the skin and trap any oil or debris if the eye area isn’t well cleansed beforehand.
There are also potential concerns as for whether or not the ingredients are entirely animal cruelty-free. L’Oreal is not known to overstep this issue, but this particular product does contain ingredients that are traditionally tested in animal laboratories.
Taking all of this information into account gives us a mixed overall opinion of this product. It seems like it has all of the right things to be effective, but it has a few stragglers that keep it just shy of excellence.

RevitaLift Triple Power Eye Treatment Ingredients
It is obvious at a glance that a great deal of attention went into this product when we look at the ingredients. We see a lot of today’s major players, along with a handful of natural and holistic alternatives which are rapidly gaining popularity over the mystery chemicals which were once standard fodder in all cosmetics. (And still are, in certain ones.)
But, along with these are a few worrisome items as well. Some cannot be guaranteed to be free of animal cruelty, while others might be unsustainably sourced. There is no way to know for certain, since these declarations are not federally required on labels. We have to hope for the best in those instances, and that’s not really the desired result from a skincare product.
Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid
One of the most trendy ingredients in skin care right now is Hyaluronic Acid, and for good reason. Not only is it already naturally occurring in our skin, but one gram of Hyaluronic Acid can hold six entire liters of water. Talk about hydrating power! But that’s not all this ingredient can do. It also fills out wrinkles from within, leading to an appearance of instant improvement while it and others do their long-term work over time. This is a major player in anti-aging right now, and it does a lot of the heavy lifting in this eye cream.
Prunus Americana Kernel Oil
More commonly known as Apricot Oil, this everyday extract is excellent at helping skin remain supple and elastic, two dire needs for those looking to reduce wrinkles. It also promotes skin cell growth and helps open pores, so no need to worry about buildup or blackheads. It can be just slightly abrasive, which can be harsh on sensitive skin, but it is useful for sloughing off dead skin. If your skin is sensitive, wait 10-15 minutes after using a cleanser to use a product with Apricot Oil in it to lessen the chances of irritation from abrasiveness.
Caffeine
While the boatloads of milk and sugar in a venti iced frap with whip and sprinkles might only help your skin break out, using caffeine topically in skin care products can be incredibly beneficial. It is a natural antioxidant, and also helps protect against sun exposure. It’s basically nature’s sunblock, though much weaker than the stuff in stores. So while caffeine can boost your beauty glow, be sure not to skip on sunscreen just for the perky stuff alone. Still, it’s a good ingredient to see in a skin cream, especially if you’re searching for anti-aging through natural sources.
Chlorphenesin
This synthetic preservative can be used in cosmetics to keep it fresh on shelves and keep microbes from growing. However, there is some concerning evidence that Chlorphenesin could have toxicity risks. It is currently banned in Japan while investigation and experimentation is done, but for the time being it is legal and deemed safe to use in the rest of the world. There are also questions as to whether it is bioaccumulative and potentially harmful to the environment when disposed of. There is no definitive answer to this, yet.
Silica
Also known as silicon dioxide, this compound is found most often in quartz. It many parts of the world, it is a major component of sand. It is used in cosmetic products as a filler and thickening agent. It also prevents caking and settling in makeup. It is largely considered safe unless you have a specific allergy. However, while not thought to be dangerous, it is considered a cheap way to add volume to a product without using more powerful – read, expensive – ingredients. Silica packets are often included with items being shipped a long distance as a way to contain potential moisture from spoiling or ruining items. You’ve definitely seen one of these, characterized by the big red letters saying: “DO NOT CONSUME”. Should be skin safe though, right?
Mica
This silicate is popular in cosmetics thanks to its ability to give a shimmering look. It is generally considered safe, despite some research suggesting there could be a possibility that it affects gastrointestinal upset. While L’Oreal has not confirmed or denied, many consumers debate over this ingredient due to the fact that it is very often tested on animals. While a finished product sold by L’Oreal may not be animal tested, it is entirely possible that one of the included ingredients is, and the consumer has no way to know. It depends on the source of L’Oreal’s Mica, which is not information anyone has except L’Oreal.

Thoroughly wash and cleans the eye area in the morning prior to use. Utilizing the tip of your finger, pat small dots along the eye area and gently smooth into skin. L’Oreal suggests you repeat during morning and night regimens along with the rest of the RevitaLift line for best results. (This can get pricey.)
If you have sensitive skin or are concerned about irritation, do a small patch test on your forearm at least 24 hours prior to use on your eye area. If redness, itchiness, swelling, or discomfort occurs, discontinue use.

L’Oreal’s RevitaLift line has come a long way in recent years. Their ingredient lists have improved, and their products are certainly better than their ancestors. But whether or not they stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the best the market has to offer is another question. This serum seems mostly harmless, but a few unanswered questions leave an uneasy feeling rather than the confidence we all want in our skin care products.
