Femora Anti Aging Face Cream review

Femora Overview

Femora anti-aging cream claims that it can reduce all signs of aging, from fine lines and deep set wrinkles to dark circles, puffiness, and skin discoloration. With industry-leading Retinol in the formula, they certainly are on the right track. Femora says the product utilizes a healing matrix to rejuvenate skin, regardless of previous damage. The site touts such encouraging benefits as skin lightening, lifting, firming, and all in an all-natural formula that is gentle enough to be used every single day and night. From the sounds of it, a staple product for everyone’s beauty routine! But is it possible for all of these good things to be true?

A Closer Look at Femora Anti Aging Face Cream

When diving deeper into Femora, it becomes a little hazy. Finding a list of ingredients is nearly impossible, as they only give a choice few on their site. You have to actually read the back of the jar for the complete list, and it isn’t as “all-natural” as they would have you believe. There are undoubtedly some all-natural ingredients. A few plant and herb extracts are notable exceptions, and very fine additions. But alongside those are standard-issue synthetics for thickening, blending, etc. Honestly, we’re fine with those sort of synthetics in moderation, if you don’t mind a product that isn’t all-natural and organic. But the deception isn’t something we’re a fan of.

The site for Femora is a single page with little to no information elsewhere online, except echoes and excerpts from what’s already available about them. This adds an air of mystery to this product, which is another thing we don’t particularly care for. Here, we like to know what we’re getting into, which is why we investigate beauty products and report our findings back to you. Femora doesn’t make themselves very transparent, which gives a shady vibe, but with no real backing to it other than a healthy bias and carefulness about internet purchases.

When buying beauty products online, be sure to check the size and/or quantity and not just look at the photos.

Ingredients in Femora Anti Aging Face Cream

The list of ingredients in this cream is far from spectacular. There’s nothing outstandingly good, nor is there anything so astonishingly bad it merits harsh criticism. It’s very middle-of-the-road. We see a lot of familiar players- various chemical components which most age-fighting creams contain nowadays. There are a few unique ingredients, which are more interesting than truly special only because they are slightly different than the norm. But the variation doesn’t do anything to enhance the product; it’s just another version of the same mediocre wrinkle cream.

Cyclopentasiloxane

This silicone has a uniquely fluid property which makes it extremely spreadable. For this reason, we often see it and other silicones in creams and skin care products to ensure a creamy texture. It acts as a slight water repellant and gives a mildly slick feeling to the touch. When applied to the skin, it can fill fine lines and wrinkles, giving a temporary illusion of ‘plumpness’. When combined with active anti-aging ingredients, this can be a good thing. It’s a nice temporary ‘preview’ of the work the anti-agers are doing beneath the surface. 1

Retinol

This Vitamin-A derivative is in almost every popular anti-aging products nowadays. It’s all-natural, which only adds to its popularity, and has been under studies since the 70s. There are still questions as to whether the chemically exfoliating properties of Retinol might do harm to cell life turnover and have a hand in drier skin later in life, but such tests are still ongoing. For now, Retinol is being used and working well for many, though sensitive-skinned users may want to test carefully first. 2

Spilanthes Acmella Flower Extract

More commonly known as “the toothache plant”, this extract is a common natural alternative to Botox. When applied topically, this extract can relax muscle tension, and thus reduce wrinkles caused by tense muscles. Thanks to this, it can temporarily numb tooth areas and gums; therefore the name. In clinical studies, three quarters of participants noticed an effect from this extract almost immediately after application.

Arachidyl Alcohol

This fatty alcohol is waxy at room temperature and is often used as an emollient and emulsion-stabilizer. This means it can bind with both water and oil-based solutions on a chemical level, allowing ingredients which would usually separate to be successfully combined. It has been deemed safe for use, but there is concern that improper manufacturing, storing, or disposal could be an environmental hazard. 3

Chlorphenesin

A common synthetic preservative, this muscle relaxant works by stopping nerve impulses from being sent to the brain. In cosmetics, it is used because it will keep mold and bacteria from taking hold in the product. However, it can cause issues in viscosity, pH, color, disagreeable odor, among others. This makes it a challenge to work with, and often necessitates additional ingredients to cover up any unpleasantness it might bring.

The Final Word on Femora Anti Aging Face Cream

While it may not be the end-all, be-all of the beauty world, this cream seems fairly standard.
